The Pasco County School Board is expected to approve a transfer of Lake Myrtle Elementary School principal Kara Smucker to Gulf Highlands Elementary in Port Richey during its July 26 meeting.
Smucker will replace current principal Jill Middleton, who is being transferred to Schrader Elementary in New Port Richey as an assistant principal.
The transfers come on the heels of Gulf Highland’s F grade from the state. Lake Myrtle has been an A school for three of the four years Smucker has held the post.

If the board approves Superintendent Heather Fiorentino’s request, the transfers will be effective July 27.
According to district spokeswoman Summer Romagnoli, the Lake Myrtle post will be filled at a later date. If the board approves the transfers, the district will have to advertise for Smucker’s replacement.
