Land O' Lakes Man Killed by Street Sweeper

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — A 48-year-old Land O’ Lakes man is dead following an early Saturday morning crash on State Road 54.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Todd Perron was trying to cross State Road 54 at U.S. 41 in the marked crosswalk around 2:10 a.m. As he was crossing the road, a street sweeper driven by Louis Yager, 24, of Brooksville was heading east on State Road 54 and entered the intersection under a green light.

Perron, the highway patrol said, walked into the path of the sweeper.

Perron was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say charges are pending further investigation.
