Lawn Mower Incident Appears Accidental, Deputies Say
The case remains under investigation.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Saturday riding lawn mower accident that sent a 2-year-old boy to the hospital with a severed foot.
Deputies say Tiffany May Collins, 33, was using a zero turn mower while her son Zayden was playing in the yard at 17615 Orange Drive in Spring Hill just before 11 a.m.
“Preliminary information indicates Zayden ran towards his mother on the mower and although she turned the mower blades off, they were still turning when the boy fell and his right leg went under the mower, severing the foot below the ankle,” an email from the sheriff’s office to media stated.

The boy was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, Pasco County Fire Rescue reported Saturday. His condition is unknown at this time.
A similar accident in Palm Harbor in 2013 claimed both legs of then 2-year-old Ireland Nugent. She was also treated at Tampa General.
