Lutz Man Killed In I-75 Motorcycle Crash

LUTZ, FL — A 22-year-old man is dead following a Thursday afternoon crash on Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jowel Jacob Figuero, 22, was heading north on I-75 in the center lane on a Kawasaki around 4:40 p.m. At that time, a Volkswagen Passat, driven by Nenad Spanovic, 28, of Tampa was in the outside lane, ahead of the bike. Troopers say Figuero changed lanes and failed to stop as the Passat slowed for other traffic.

Figuero’s bike struck the rear of the Passat, ejecting him from the bike, a highway patrol report said.

Figuero was taken to Tampa General Hospital, but later died from his injuries, troopers say.

The accident remains under investigation with charges pending.
