Man Accused Of Strangling His Girlfriend Over Her Hairstyle

LAND O' LAKES, FL -- A 34-year-old Hillsborough County man is behind bars after being accused of cutting his girlfriend with a knife, breaking a mirror over her head and strangling her. Pasco County Sheriff's deputies say the attack was over an argument about the girlfriend wanting to wear her hair down.

Deputies arrested Jarred Marks, 34, of Cordoba Ranch Boulevard for domestic battery after the girlfriend, who lives in Land O' Lakes, contacted the sheriff's office.

The girlfriend told deputies that Marks became angry about her wanting to wear her hair down, and he cut her arm with a kitchen knife, struck her with a mirror and choked her until she passed out. She said she woke up the next morning, and he was gone.

Deputies photographed the cut on her arm and hairline as well as signs of strangulation.

On Wednesday, Marks was charged with domestic battery by strangulation.
