Man Shot Himself At Hospital After Crash, Troopers Say
The man died from his wounds following the Tuesday evening incident.

BROOKSVILLE, FL — A 61-year-old man involved in a Tuesday evening traffic crash shot and killed himself in an emergency room shortly afterwards, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident began to unfold around 5:13 p.m. when troopers responded to a crash on U.S. 41 and Powell Road in the Brooksville area. Troopers determined a Dodge pickup had turned in front of a Volkswagen sedan, causing the crash, an email from the agency stated.
The driver of the Dodge, William Stark Adams of Webster, was treated by Hernando County Fire Rescue personnel and taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital for further treatment, the email said.

During the course of the accident investigation, troopers found “a large volume of hydrocodone and other pills” in Adams’ possession. Once at the emergency room, troopers say Adams pulled out a gun and shot himself. He died at the scene.
No further details are available at this time. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the death. Details from that agency are not yet available.
