New Turn in Missing Uber Driver Case

The Wesley Chapel man has a court appearance scheduled in Pennsylvania Friday.

As the search for a missing Wesley Chapel man continues, Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have released more information in the case.

Sean Golden, 39, was last seen early Sunday morning at an East Sligh Avenue gas station after dropping off a fare in the 4200 block of Tampania Avenue in Tampa.

Deputies say Golden, who is a driver-partner with Uber, was captured on the Flying J gas station’s surveillance video just after 4:30 p.m. March 8. That video showed Golden pumping gas and then opening his trunk, which had luggage inside.

“He appeared to be alone and not under any duress,” an email from the sheriff’s office to media stated.

During the course of the investigation into Golden’s disappearance, deputies have learned he has a 15-year-old son in Pennsylvania. While Golden has no contact with the teen, he did pay child support regularly until October 2014, the email stated.

Golden is scheduled to appear in a Pennsylvania court Friday to address the failure to pay, Pasco deputies say.

“If Golden fails to appear in court, a warrant for his arrest will be issued in that state,” the email stated.

Golden’s son and his mother have told police they have not heard from him and Pennsylvania authorities have been made aware of his disappearance.

The search for the man continues.

Deputies say he was last seen driving a gray, four-door 2014 Toyota Camry hybrid with Florida tag number S651JA. It is believed he may have traveled east on Interstate 4 following the Sligh Avenue gas station stop Sunday.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 1-800-706-2499.
