Pasco County Government Offices Ring in the New Year

Most local offices will shut down for the holiday.

Planning to pay a bill, get a permit or register to vote on Monday, Jan. 2?

You’re going to be out of luck.

Most Pasco County government offices will close their doors until Jan. 3 in recognition of the New Year’s holiday. The last day of 2011 government offices will be open varies from agency to agency, however.

Most government offices, including constitutional offices and the courts, will shut down at the regular time on Friday, Dec. 30, and they won’t reopen until Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012. There are a few exceptions, however.

Here’s a look at who’s open when, according to the county website:

  • Tax collector’s office – This office will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, and won’t reopen until Jan. 3, 2012.
  • Pasco County Libraries – All of the county’s libraries will be closed Dec. 31. They’ll reopen on Jan. 3.
  • Parks and recreation complexes – These will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2 only. Public parks and beaches will remain open from dawn until dusk.
  • Animal Services – this agency will close Jan. 2 only. Regular hours will be observed Dec. 31.
  • Pasco County Public Transportation – Bus service will not be available Jan. 2.
  • The Pasco County Resource Recovery Facility and the East Pasco Transfer Station – Both will be closed to the public Jan. 2, but commercial haulers will have access to the facilities.
