Pasco Reporting Problems with Florida Standards Assessment Testing
It seems the exam website has been kicking some students offline.

Pasco County eighth- through 10th-graders, like students throughout the state, started their week off by taking the Florida Standards Assessment in language arts Monday, but it wasn’t smooth sailing all around.
The school district is reporting that some teachers had troubles logging onto the testing platform, which prevented their students from accessing the test. Other students found they could launch the exam, but got kicked off in the middle of it, the district wrote in an email to media. Some of those students lost their work.
“In some cases, students have received an error message that cannot be explained,” the district’s email went on to say.

While Pasco reports that problems have arisen, most students were able to take the exam. Even so, “The state has given school districts permission to suspend testing, but Pasco County has not suspended testing districtwide.”

Testing has been postponed until Tuesday at Seven Springs Middle School, the district noted.
The Florida Standards Assessment is a new statewide test introduced this year. The tougher tests have come under fire from parents, politicians and educators. While Gov. Rick Scott has halted one 11th-grade test, overall FAS testing is continuing in Florida with grade-appropriate exams created for students in elementary, middle and high school.
Last week, Pasco County Superintendent Kurt Browning warned the district, teachers, students and the state likely were not ready for this week’s rollout of exams.
