Pasco Sheriff Seeks Scammer Who Pretended To Be Victim's Grandson

The Pasco Sheriff is attempting to identify a couple who pretended to be the grandson of a Wesley Chapel resident.

LAND O' LAKES, FL -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is attempting to identify a couple who pretended to be the grandson of a Wesley Chapel resident and tricked the victim into buying gift cards.

The incident occurred last October. A man contacted the victim, pretending to be a grandson and said he was in an accident and needed money for legal fees. The fake grandson asked the victim to obtain Walmart gift cards and provide the numbers on them to the grandson's attorney.

The gift cards were then used by a man and a woman on separate occasions at the Walmart at 28500 State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel.
