PHSC And Pasco County Sheriff's Office Host Human Trafficking Symposium

From Pasco- Hernando State College: Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office will host a Human Trafficking Symposium in Wesley Chapel, on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Porter Campus at Wiregrass, 2727 Mansfield Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Conference Center, building B, room 303.

Corporal Alan T. Wilkett, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and Edie Rhea, Healing Root Ministry, will discuss issues regarding human trafficking. Wilkett has served as a chief deputy, captain, commander, and director of public safety in his more than 22 year public service career. He has held positions in various specialties including property crimes, major crimes, cold case, narcotics, child abuse, and more.

Edie Rhea has dedicated her life to aide in the restoration of fellow survivors, working in crisis intervention for children and women going through the aftermath of sexual abuse and human trafficking. She shares her real-life story to help other women, and the community to find a renewed hope. Rhea is the founder of Healing Root Ministry, a non-profit organization advocating for victims of human trafficking and sexual abuse.

Attendees also will have immediate access to information from agencies and organizations that provide services. The agencies represented are: Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and Healing Root Ministry.

The event is part of PHSC’s ongoing Community Awareness Series available to community members, students, faculty, and staff.
