Pasco Carjacking Suspect Captured

The man was still naked.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested a man it says carjacked a motorist Thursday afternoon and possibly fired a shot at a deputy.

The incident unfolded in Zephyrhills around 1:30 p.m. when a man was forced from his car in the area of Belmont Place, near Eiland Boulevard, according to an email from the agency. Shortly after taking the vehicle, deputies spotted the stolen car. The suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot in the area of U.S. 301 and Chancey Road.

Deputies say when they pursued the man, a shot was fired. No one was injured and it is unclear in what direction the shot came from, the email said.

During a subsequent search, deputies found the clothing their suspect was wearing on the ground.

Kenneth Brown, 30, was brought into custody in Crystal Spring around 1:30 a.m. Friday. He was naked, the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. Since he was also lethargic and suffering from cuts and scrapes, he was taken toa local hospital for clearance before being booked into the Pasco County jail
