Serial Killer Oscar Ray Bolin's Appeal Denied

The man convicted of killing three women in the Tampa Bay area is scheduled to die Jan. 7.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL – The man convicted of abducting, raping and stabbing a Land O’ Lakes woman to death in 1986 has been denied a stay of execution by the Florida Supreme Court.

The court ruled Thursday that Oscar Ray Bolin, 53, should be put to death for Teri Lynn Matthews’ murder in December 1986.

Matthews, 26, was abducted from the Land O’ Lakes Post Office on U.S. 41. Her death rocked the community and left many on edge.

Bolin’s appeal centered on an Ohio inmate’s confession that he killed Matthews, not Bolin. The court found that there wasn’t enough evidence to substantiate the claim, several media outlets have reported.

Bolin was also sentenced to death in the Carrollwood murder of Stephanie Collins in 1986. Collins was abducted from a shopping plaza. The Chamberlain High School student was 17.

Bolin was also convicted in the January 1986 slaying of Natalie Blanch Holley in Hillsborough County.

Bolin is scheduled for execution on Jan. 7, the Tampa Bay Times reported, noting that Gov. Rick Scott signed an execution order back in October.

Bolin, who was once a carnival worker and long-haul trucker, is suspected in a number of other murders across the country.
