Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Pasco County

The watch is expected to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

Pasco County residents are being warned to keep their eyes on the sky as a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the area.

The National Weather Service has also included nearby Hernando and Citrus counties in the watch that is anticipated to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Monday. Hillsborough and Pinellas counties had not been added to the watch list as of 1:50 p.m.

Watches are issued by the National Weather Service when conditions are favorable for the development of a particular weather event, the agency noted.

The agency estimates about an 80 percent chance of storms Monday mainly before 8 p.m. throughout Pasco County. Storms are also likely throughout most of the week.
