The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a suspicious object found near Sunlake High and Charles S. Rushe Middle School Saturday.

The device was reportedly found near Sunlake and Mentmore boulevards. The Tampa Police Department bomb squad was called in to inspect the device. It was determined to be a “homemade acid bomb,” according to sheriff’s office spokesman Kevin Doll.

The object has been safely neutralized, Doll said, adding that kids sometimes make them and blow them up.
