Teens Arrested In Genesis School Burglaries

Deputies discovered that the main library and a portable classroom had been burglarized.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Two teens are facing multiple charges in connection with a series of break-ins at a New Port Richey school over the weekend.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an alarm at the Genesis School, 8100 Mitchell Ranch Road in New Port Richey, Sunday, Jan. 7, the site of a burglary on Jan. 5. When they arrived, the deputies saw two youths climbing a fence and fleeing into the woods.

The teen boys were subsequently caught by deputies trying to enter the Trinity West subdivision. When deputies searched the school, they discovered that the main library and a portable classroom had been burglarized. A search of the area turned up a number of items that had been stolen from the school.

The teens, age 16 and 17, admitted to both burglaries. The 17-year-old has been charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana. The other youth was charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
