Tropical Disturbance Not Likely to Impact Bay Area
Normal summer weather patterns are predicted for Tampa Bay as a weak storm system makes its way toward Florida.

While folks in South Florida might want to batten down the hatches for some extra rainfall, Tampa Bay won’t likely see a change in its weather as a low pressure system moves toward the state.
That, however, doesn’t mean that a little rain won’t fall here, according to the National Weather Service. Rain chances for the rest of the week range between 20 and 40 percent most days with highs around 90 and lows in the mid-70s.
National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Barron says that low pressure system has very little chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. As of Thursday morning, the National Hurricane Center said its chances for development are only about 20 percent over the next 48 hours. The chance rises to about 30 percent over the next five days.

The storm was located near the northwestern Bahamas Thursday morning. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter mission scheduled for Thursday was cancelled.
Meanwhile, another tropical disturbance is under watch about 750 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. That storm has about a 70 percent chance of developing over the next 48 hours.
