Wesley Chapel Man Killed in Crash

Wesley Chapel, FL — A 19-year-old Wesley Chapel man has died following a July 5 crash on State Road 60.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Emmanuel Orengo Alvarez was heading eastbound on State Road 60, west of Monclair Avenue, in a Nissan Sentra around 7:27 a.m. July 5. At that time, a GMC Sierra driven by Patrick Sarsfield, 49, of Valrico was heading westbound in the inside line.

Troopers say Alvarez veered sharply left and ran across a raised concrete median and into westbound lanes. His car struck the front left of Sarsfield’s Sierra, a highway patrol report said.

Alvarez was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries, the report noted. He died on July 7. The patrol released information about the crash and death on Monday, July 11.

Sarsfield suffered minor injuries in the crash, but was not taken to the hospital, troopers said.

It is unclear was caused Alvarez to steer into the westbound lanes.

No charges have been filed in the crash.
