The 28-year-old woman was killed Sunday morning when her Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle struck a Toyota Corolla on Lutz Lake Fern Road

LUTZ, FL - A 28-year-old Wesley Chapel woman was killed Sunday morning when her Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle struck a Toyota Corolla on Lutz Lake Fern Road, deputies said. The woman was identified as Erica Kristen Rodriguez. She was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where she was pronounced dead.

The car was driven by Michel M. Ghobrial, 39, of Lutz, who was traveling eastbound on Lutz Lake Fern Road ahead of Rodriguez about 9:05 a.m. Rodriguez was riding with a small group of motorcycle riders. Ghobrial was driving his family to church, but they had forgotten something at their home, deputies said. Ghobrial activated his left turn signal, slowed down, and turned into a nearby driveway.

Rodriguez also was traveling eastbound but had entered the westbound lane as she attempted to pass traffic across a double yellow line in a no-passing zone. Rodriguez struck the driver-side of the Toyota and suffered critical injuries.
