Active Shooter Training Offered in Largo

The Largo Police Department is reaching out to help residents and businesses prepare for the worst.

Largo, FL β€” When an active shooter situation develops, people may only have seconds to react. Knowing how to spend those seconds can be critical.

That’s why the Largo Police Department is reminding area residents and business owners it has certified instructors available to teach the ropes of A.L.I.C.E. (alert, lockdown, inform, counter, evacuate). The free Citizen Response to Active Shooter Training is offered by the department directly.

A.L.I.C.E. training was developed in 2001 β€œas a response to the increase in school-related shootings,” the agency wrote in an email to media. Largo Police are issuing the reminder about the available training in light of the recent increase in active shooter incidents across the country, including the June mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
