1. 4 Hospitalized After 10-Vehicle Largo Crash: Police (patch.com) — Morning drivers in Largo faced major delays after a 10-vehicle crash on 66th Street N sent four people to local hospitals, including one with life-threatening injuries. Northbound lanes near the 13000 block are closed while Largo police investigate, and traffic is being rerouted at 126th Avenue N as officers work to determine what caused the pileup.
2. Bocelli Modern Italian will open second location in Largo (stpeterising.com) — A popular South Tampa Italian restaurant is coming to downtown Largo, with Bocelli Modern Italian set to open at Horizon West Bay on West Bay Drive in spring 2027. The city approved a 10-year lease and up to $1.6 million in buildout reimbursement, aiming to create a family-friendly dining and live-music destination that also boosts catering for City Hall staff and nearby offices.
3. Parents in Pinellas County are pushing back against school closures and mergers (wusf.org) — Pinellas County School Board members will take public comment in Largo on Sept. 22 before voting Oct. 13 on a plan to close or merge several schools. Parents are organizing petitions and speaking out, arguing closures like John M. Sexton Elementary will overcrowd remaining campuses and disrupt families, while district leaders say the changes respond to falling enrollment and free up millions annually.
4. Forensic experts testify about evidence in murder trial against Tarpon Springs plastic surgeon (tampabay28.com) — Largo readers following the Steven Cozzi case heard new forensic details Wednesday, as experts described extensive blood evidence at his Clearwater law office and possible traces in the Tarpon Springs home and vehicles of defendant Dr. Tomas Kosowski. A Largo Police officer also recounted a grueling landfill excavation in South Florida, while the judge repeatedly overruled Kosowski's objections during the ongoing bench trial.
