1. 13 First Responders Exposed To Narcotics During Largo Welfare Check: Reports (patch.com) — Largo residents are learning more about a hazardous welfare check where 13 first responders and a suspect were exposed to an unknown narcotic at an apartment on Glades Circle. Several Largo police officers and a medic were hospitalized but have since been released, while investigators continue working to identify the substance and determine whether additional charges will be filed.
2. Tampa Bay Ukulele Society Fall Ukulele Festival in Largo, Nov. 6 & 7 (stpetecatalyst.com) — Downtown Largo will host a free two-day Tampa Bay Ukulele Getaway Festival on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6–7, with concerts at Horizon West Bay and Central Park Performing Arts Center. Residents can enjoy national and local performers, beginner lessons, play-along sessions, and a ukulele swap meet, all without an admission fee.
3. Mother dies after eating frozen blueberries from Publix, lawsuit says (kptv.com) — A wrongful death lawsuit claims contaminated GreenWise frozen blueberries bought at a Largo Publix led to the June 20 death of a local mother and serious illness for her son. The berries were later recalled in a multistate E. coli outbreak, and the family is now suing Publix and distributor Quirch Foods in Pinellas County court for allegedly selling a dangerously defective product.
4. Half-dressed woman arrested for pumpkin bundt cake theft at farmer's market: LPD (tampabay28.com) — Largo police arrested a 51-year-old woman Thursday after she allegedly stole two packages of pumpkin mini-bundt cakes from the Sprouts store on East Bay Drive and refused to leave her car when stopped. Officers broke a window to remove her, charging her with theft and resisting arrest without violence, noting two prior theft convictions.
5. Pinellas Education Foundation Marks 40th Anniversary, Honors 2026 ChangeMakers (stpetecatalyst.com) — Largo-based Pinellas Education Foundation just marked its 40th anniversary, highlighting decades of support for local public schools and students. At its ChangeMakers Breakfast, the group honored district leader Ellen Truskowski, educator and assistant principal Bobby Coston Jr., and longtime supporters Bob and Kay Dillinger for expanding learning opportunities and scholarships across Pinellas County.
