Benefit Scheduled for Pinellas Special-Ed Teacher Who Lost Leg in Motorcycle Accident

James McCharen and his wife, Jeanie, were riding their motorcycle to a birthday/wedding party on December 15, 2012, when they were struck by a car. James, known as "Coach Mac," a special education teacher for Pinellas County Schools* for the past 26 years, was injured critically.

Following nine surgeries, doctors determined that his left leg would have to be amputated above the knee, which took place earlier this year.
Fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and friends of James and Jeanie have organized a special event to benefit the McCharen family, scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 1-7 p.m. at Screwie Louie's Porpoise Pub, 8701 Seminole Blvd., Seminole.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend. All proceeds from the event will benefit the McCharen family.
For more information on the event, visit <http://www.jamesfundraiser.com> or call Randi Morgan, (901) 569-1067.
*Disclaimer: Pinellas County Schools is not involved in organizing or supporting this event.
