Pinellas County Animal Services and shelters across the country are inundated with litters of kittens during the spring and summer months. The month of June is dedicated to promoting cat adoption, in hopes that this will reduce the number of unsterile feline pets in Pinellas County.
As part of the Adopt a Shelter Cat Month special, $5 rabies vaccinations with the purchase of a license will be available on Thursdays, 1 to 4 p.m. The adoption fee in June for cats will be reduced to $25 during normal shelter adoption hours. The fee includes medical checkup, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, internal and external parasite control, heartworm testing and feline leukemia testing and micro chipping. The required Pinellas County license is also provided.

Pinellas County Animal Services is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services include adoptions. Rabies vaccinations are administered on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The facility is closed all Pinellas County holidays.
