Bald Eagle Named Sarge to Celebrate 2nd Anniversary in Tampa Bay
Patriotic cupcakes donated by Winn-Dixie for the celebration
George C. McGough Nature Park in Largo, Florida is home to many rescue birds of prey, including one very special bird named Sarge.
The seven-year-old bald eagle was originally found injured in Kentucky and traveled to Tennessee and Missouri before landing at her forever home in Tampa Bay two years ago! The staff and volunteers at the Narrows Environmental Education Center in George C. McGough Nature Park celebrated Sarge and her second anniversary in Florida on April 12. Sarge and her feathered friends were served special popsicles made of raw fish and chicken while the park team and visitors enjoy patriotic cupcakes in Sarge’s honor.
Winn-Dixie donated patriotic cupcakes for the park staff, volunteers and visitors to enjoy during Sarge’s celebration. The grocer also made a donation large enough to feed Sarge for her next year here at George C. McGough Nature Park! Each dollar donated by generous park visitors can feed a bird for one day.

Sarge is considered non-releasable due to a genetic condition causing her to shed her feathers differently than normal bald eagles.
