PINELLAS COUNTY - The Pinellas County Sheriff's Marine Unit and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are partnering to conduct Operation Dry Water over the holiday weekend.

Operation Dry Water, launched in 2009 by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators in partnership with the United States Coast Guard, has been a successful effort to draw public attention to the hazards of boating under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Operation Dry Water is a national campaign of BUI detection and enforcement aimed at reducing the number of alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities and deterring the use of drugs and alcohol while operating a boat.
