Buccaneers Visit Oakhurst Elementary
Members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently spent time exercising with Largo students as part of the NFL's Play 60 program.
Oakhurst Elementary recently hosted several members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as part of the NFL's Play 60 program. As part of the program, the school was awarded a $10,000 grant from the NFL to spend on health and wellness initiatives, according to a release from Pinellas County Schools.
Buccaneers who visited the school included:
- Connor Barth, kicker
- Sean Jones, safety
- James Lee, offensive lineman
- Corey Lynch, safety
Students wore red and black, the cafeteria put together a special tailgate theme, and members of the Seminole High band greeted the Buccaneers when they arrived.

The NFL started the Play 60 program in 2007, according to NFL.com. It's designed to fight childhood obesity by encouraging young people to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.
