Cops: Armed Carjacker Thwarted By Quick-Acting Driver
Largo Police say the female victim put her car into reverse to avoid the armed suspect, who fired at her vehicle anyway.

LARGO, FL β A quick-thinking Largo motorist managed to get away from a would-be armed carjacker early Monday morning.
According to the Largo Police Department, a woman was approached by a man in the parking lot of Farrington Apartments, 2738 Roosevelt Blvd., around 12:37 a.m. That man had a shirt wrapped around his face, an email from the police department said.
βThe male produced a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victim's car and money,β the email said.

The woman, it seems, was not going to go along with the request. She put her car into reverse and backed away. When she drove forward, the man fired a round at the car. The bullet hit the driverβs door trim, police said.
Police have not released the name of the victim. They have said the suspect took off from the scene after firing the shot. No further information is available at this time.
