Cyclist Critically Injured in Late Night Seminole Crash
A bicycle rode northbound into the path of a van on Park Street Sunday night, according to sheriff's deputies.

A 54-year-old bicyclist was hit by a van, when the cyclist rode into the path of the vehicle Sunday night on Park Street near Burning Tree in Seminole, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
The accident occurred around 11:25 p.m. on March 18 when bicyclist Roger Hiers, of Gibsonton, headed north on Park Street and rode into John Collins of St. Petersburg's van, according to deputies.
An ambulance transported Hiers to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening head injuries. Collins was not injured in the accident, according to a news release.

Deputies said the crash area was not very well lit. Investigators said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash on the part of the bicyclist. There were no signs of impairment on the part of the vehicle driver, according to the sheriff's office.
The investigation is ongoing.
