Cyclist Receives Life Threatening Injuries in Late Night Crash

A Seminole cyclist is being treated for life threatening injuries after a crash where alcohol "may be a factor with the bicyclist", according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's office.

Osman Serrano, 33, rode his mountain bike east on 62nd Avenue Monday night in Seminole just before 11p.m. As Serrano crossed Seminole Boulevard he reportedly rode out in front of a pick-up truck driven by Michael Pompeo, 48, of Seminole, according to deputies.

Deputies say the truck hit the bike and the cyclist was ejected from his bike and fell underneath the truck. Pompeo called fire officials and Serrano was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center.

Serrano has multiple, serious injuries. Pompeo was not injured in the crash, according to a news release.
