Empty Suitcase To Blame For Largo Mall Bomb Scare

The Largo Police Department said the suspicious item was found in the parking lot.

Largo, FL β€” The discovery of an abandoned suitcase in the parking lot of the Largo Mall Tuesday afternoon led to a bit of a scare.

According to the Largo Police Department, the case was found in a relatively empty part of the 10500 Ulmerton Road mall’s parking lot around 4 p.m. A portion of the parking lot was closed off after the discovery, but the mall remained opened.

β€œThe Tampa Bomb Squad was called to address the matter in a manner consistent with an abundance of caution,” the police department said in an email to media. The bomb squad responded to the scene and determined the suitcase was empty.
