“SKYWARN Spotters play a critical role in the National Weather Service mission to protect life and property from hazardous weather. In the average year, 10,000 severe thunderstorms, 5,000 floods and more than 1,000 tornadoes occur across the United States. SKYWARN Spotters identify and describe severe local storms in their community and can add precious seconds warnings of severe weather”.
