FCAT Scores Released for Pinellas Schools

Preliminary reading and writing results were mixed across grade levels.

Results showed 54 percent of 9th grade students achieved at level 3 or above on the FCAT Reading 2.0 test, four percentage points higher than the district’s 2011 score and two percentage points higher than this year’s state average.

For the 4th grade FCAT Writing test, 82 percent of Pinellas students achieved a score of 3 or above, one percentage point higher than the state average.

For the 10th grade FCAT Writing test, 85 percent of Pinellas students achieved a score of 3 or above, also one percent above the state average.

Some results fell slightly below the state average.

For the 10th grade FCAT Reading 2.0 test, 49 percent of students achieved the passing score of level 3 or above, one percent below the state average. 

Results show 74 percent of Pinellas 8th grade students earned a level 3 or above on the writing test, three percentage points below the state average.

More results will be released.

The district is awaiting the release of the results for the remaining FCAT/End-of-Course assessments, which include FCAT 2.0 Reading and Math for grades 3 through 8, FCAT Science, and End-of-Course exams in Algebra 1, Biology 1 and Geometry. The FCAT Writing test is only administered in grades 4, 8 and 10.
