Five Things To Do This Weekend

This weekend there's a hydrocephalus walk in Largo Central Park, Mister Roberts play at the cultural center, it's train weekend and more.

1. Watch a play at the Largo Cultural Center! From Nov. 4-13 the cultural center's Eight O'Click Theater presents Mister Roberts,  a World War II era play that touches on a side of war that is often forgotten- the boredom of men assigned to less glamorous work. In this play Navy veterans may look at the officers and men of AK 601 and say, "That was just like my ship!"

2. Country music and square dancing take over the Largo Community Center Friday night.

  • Admission is $5, no alcohol is permitted

3. Support a cause! On Saturday there will be a Hydrocephalus Walk in Largo Central Park. Hydrocephalus is a condition known as "water is on the brain." It is a condition in which the primary characteristic is excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the skull. It affects infants , children, young adults, middle-aged and older adults. The walk is put together by HUGS, a non profit group that supports families impacted by hydrocephalus.

4. Volunteer to help replant McGough Nature Park's nature trail. The nature trail was covered by invasive Brazilian Pepper trees and needs to be replanted for fall. The park will provide gloves and water. They ask that you wear close-toed shoes and pants that you don't mind getting dirty.

5. It's train weekend at Largo Central Park! Bring the whole family to Largo Central Park this weekend and ride the miniature train. There is no charge, but donations are expected to help keep the train running.
