Florida's Poet Laureate, Peter Meinke to Visit Largo Public Library

Listen to the author read selections from his poetry and short stories.

Largo Public Library’s centennial celebrations come to a close with a special visit and poetry reading from Florida’s Poet Laureate, Peter Meinke on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30pm. Meinke is the author of several award-winning books of poetry and short stories that address family, love, and life. His poems began getting national attention in the 1960s when many of them appeared in The New Republic. His first collection of short stories, The Piano Tuner, received the 1986 Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. Meinke is serving as Poet Laureate of Florida from 2015-2018 after being appointed the first-ever Poet Laureate of St. Petersburg in 2009.

At the event, the author will read selections from his poetry and short stories. Pick up a free pass at the library to reserve your seat.
