Update: Ulmerton Road Reopened After Gas Leak

Motorists were encouraged to take alternate routes this morning such as East Bay Road, according to Tampa Bay Traffic.

The gas leaked has been cleared up and Ulmerton Road has reopened, according to a Largo Police dispatcher.

Police closed Ulmerton Road this morning to clean up a gas leak, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The leak started around 8:30 a.m. while workers were digging by Lowe's Home Improvement, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Officials blocked off Ulmerton Road in both directions around 113th Street North while workers cleaned up the roadway. Hundreds of cars backed up on the westbound side of Ulmerton Road, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Motorists were encouraged to take alternate roadways. It was not known how long the road would be closed, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
