Grand Opening Planned for New Highland Lake Park
Come celebrate the opening of Largo's newest park Wednesday night.
Instead of a ribbon cutting, Largo's newest park will open with a special fish release on Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. The new Highland Lake Park, 400 Highland Avenue, has a lake in the middle of it. The city recently expanded a small pond and improved the amenities around the park, said Largo City Parks Superintendent Greg Brown.
The park has 140 newly, planted trees, a loop trail around the lake, park benches, and picnic tables. The park is open daily from dawn until dusk.
The fish release at Wednesday's grand opening ceremony is courtesy of a donation by the Florida Wildlife Commission.

The new park is part of a stormwater improvement project. Some more work on the site will be done this spring including adding an underwater aeration system, adding more park benches, plantings and educational signage, according to a city report.
Park Access. Because of construction of the new Highland Recreation Complex, access the park from Wood Street or from Lake Avenue. For more information, contact the Largo Parks Department at (727) 586-7415.
