Largo Couple Arrested For Kidnapping. Attempted Murder

LARGO, FL -- Largo Police have arrested a reportedly armed and dangerous couple accused of kidnapping and attempted murder.

Police say on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at about 11:15 a.m., 24-year-old Rhionna Leann Anderson and 30-year-old Derrick Heckman, met up with a 28-year-old man on 3rd Street Northwest for a drug transaction.

The couple allegedly robbed the victim at gunpoint, duct-taped his feet and hands and forced him into the back of a rented U-Haul truck.

While Anderson and Heckman were in the cab of the truck, the victim managed to free himself. When the couple discovered this, they stopped and opened the back door of the U-Haul. As soon as the door opened, the victim tried to run away. A surveillance video shows Anderson firing a semi-automatic handgun at the victim and striking him in the head.

He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where he is expected to recover.

Police say Anderson and Heckman abandoned the U-Haul at Largo Mall on Ulmerton Road.

They were arrested just after midnight Friday, Sept. 7 at the Days Inn in Ocala.

The U.S. Marshals Service and Marion County Sheriff's Office assisted with surveillance and arrest of the pair Anderson and Heckman were in possession of two handguns and plane tickets to California. They will be transferred from Marion County Jail to the Pinellas County Jail in the coming days.
