Largo Dives and Bars: Mugs 'N Jugs, For the Yuppie and Soccer Mom

Mugs 'N Jugs is more than meets the eye. This bar caters to families and the younger crowd.

It's rare for a bar and restaurant, with servers in skimpy clothes, to cater to the both the  yuppie bar goers and the soccer moms. But Mugs ‘N Jugs, a sports bar and grill off of 66th Street, does.

On one end the bar's wait staff is hip and flashy but on the other the bar is more child-friendly than those outfits would suggest.

“We are a family establishment,” said Pat Franke, manager of Mugs N' Jugs.

“Yes the girls wear uniforms, but this isn’t like Hooters. We serve good food here; steaks and burgers. We are about the food, not the uniforms, or the girls.”

Mugs 'N Jugs is all things to all people. On Tuesdays kids get to eat free. There are also ladies night and happy hour specials week long.

The bar's set up complements this cultivated duality. The expansive dining area is clean and crisp. There are many booth-like tables ready for groups of four or more.

Karaoke bridges these two polar forces. If not for football, which can be watched on any one of Mugs’s television screens, area residents could sing to their hearts content every night.

It is not only the younger generation that takes advantage of this activity, according to Franke.

“Karaoke is very popular. Seniors come in at 5 p.m. for karaoke and they are actually really good. I hope to have that much fun when I am older.”
