Largo High School Student is a Global Citizen
Largo High School Junior Daniel Koker participated in a Model United Nations Program in Tampa on April 3.

Pinellas County Schools was recognized Tuesday, April 3, for a decade of involvement in the Global Classrooms Model United Nations Conference.
Daniel Koker, a junior in the ExCEL magnet program at , asked a question of Gillian Sorensen, Senior Advisor at the United Nations Foundation and former Assistant Secretary General under former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan during the opening ceremonies of the Global Classrooms Model United Nations Conference on Tuesday.
The 2012 conference was held at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Over the past 10 years, more than 21,000 students in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties have participated in the conference or benefited from the Global Classrooms curriculum.

On Tuesday, 536 Pinellas County Schools’ students and 34 teachers from 18 middle schools and one high school attended the annual conference, which gives students the opportunity to participate in a professional conference setting, take on the role of United Nations ambassadors and debate with their peers across the Tampa Bay region.
Global Classrooms is an educational program by the United Nations Association of the United States of America that teaches students to be global citizens by exploring world issues and developing critical literacy and conflict resolution skills.
