Largo Scooterist Seriously Injured in Crash

Largo resident, Adam E. Sayles, 26, was seriously injured on Saturday when he crashed while driving his motor scooter on Park Boulevard in Seminole. 

According to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Joyce Amez, 72, was making a left turn from Park Boulevard when she struck Sayles with her Dodge Caravan. 

The accident occured at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Johnson Boulevard at 10:49 a.m. on Saturday. 

Amez made a left turn from Park Boulevard onto Johnson Boulevard, according to the Sheriff's Office. Sayles, was traveling westbound on Park Boulevard through the intersection at the time of the crash.

Sayles’ 2009 Zhejiang scooter struck the rear right side of the Caravan. Officials said Sayles was not wearing a helmet. He was ejected from the scooter and suffered life threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center. Amez and the two passengers in the van were not injured. 

Deputies continue to investigate the crash.
