Local Synchronized Swim Team Qualifies for Senior Nationals

This past weekend Suncoast WaterWorks qualified with their team routine to go to Senior Nationals next month in Arizona. The team practices at Southwest Pool in Largo.

A second-place finish in the team event at a regional synchronized swimming competition means Suncoast WaterWorks can compete in Senior Nationals in April. Suncoast WaterWorks, a competitive synchronized swim team, practices at Largo's Southwest Pool. WaterWorks has several teams with swimmers ages 6-17.

. The top two teams in each of the weekend's events qualified for Senior Nationals. And the swimmers came in second in the team event.

This means Gabrielle Andolino of Largo, Kaelyn Madden of Clearwater, Sarah Cooke of Safety Harbor, Shea Soullierre of Safety Harbor, Marissa Foreit of Palm Harbor, and Ciana Miller of Lakeland, can compete in Senior Nationals.  The competition  is in Arizona from April 10-14, said Coach Susan Comerford.

"(Senior Nationals is) the most prestigious meet in the U.S. You can qualify to try out for the Olympic Team at Senior Nationals," said Comerford, in an earlier interview.

Because several of the team members are high school seniors, they are currently coordinating senior schedules to see if they can go to Senior Finals, Comerford said.

Here are the rest of the standings from this weekend for Suncoast WaterWorks:

• Trio 4th – Shea Soullierre, Marissa Foreit, Sarah Cooke

• Duet 5th – Marissa Foreit and Ciana Miller

• Duet 4th – Shea Soullierre and Sarah Cooke

• Solo 4th – Ciana Miller
