
The Friends of Brooker Creek Preserve will celebrate the Fall Wildflower Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brooker Creek Preserve in Tarpon Springs. The free family-oriented event offers children’s fun and learning craft area, honeybee observation hive, wildflowers for sale, and a walk-through tent with over 250 live butterflies. The Wildflower Scavenger hunt will offer an opportunity to visit the trails and seek the many wildflowers in bloom.
New this year is a children’s crafts area and two presentations for children at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Hour-long presentations in the auditorium begin at 9:15 a.m. on Landscaping with Wildflowers, followed by presentation on Wildflowers of Pinellas at 10:15 a.m., Wildflower Photography at 11:15 a.m. and a presentation on Edible Plants at 12:15 p.m. Presentations on Landscaping with Wildflowers and Wildflowers of Pinellas repeat at 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., respectively.

Orange Blossom Catering will have hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, cookies, brownies and chips available for purchase. Grab a bite to eat and relax by the Wildflower Garden.

Brooker Creek Preserve protects more than 8,700 acres of natural ecosystems and is located at 3940 Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs. The preserve, the horse trails and the hiking trails are open daily, but closed on Christmas Day and the day after Thanksgiving.
Pinellas County Extension offers classes, programs and activities at the Environmental Education Center. The center features interactive exhibits and 22 discovery-oriented experiences that are fun for the entire family. The center is operated by the Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources Department and is open Thursday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed all Pinellas County holidays.
