No Injuries in a Four-vehicle Deputy Involved Crash

No one was injured in a chain reaction collision near the Largo Mall this afternoon.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy Timothy Myers, 44, was on duty in his marked sheriff's cruiser as he headed east on Ulmerton Road near the Largo Mall around 12:28 p.m.

Although the traffic signal was green, traffic began to slow and Myers was unable to come to a complete stop and bumped into the Toyota Prius in front of him, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The chain crash apparently began as the Prius' driver Gail Hoffman, 44, of North Redington Beach was pushed forward from the collision into the Pontiac Firebird in front of her. Amber Saltzman, 34, of Largo drove the Firebird.

Right behind Myers, Robert Faughnan, 43, drove a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. With the three-car collision in front of him, Faughnan also could not come to a complete stop and he bumped into Myers' cruiser. The impact from that crash sent Myers' vehicle into Hoffman's Prius again, causing a second crash.

No one was injured in either crash and both are currently under investigation.
