PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist was seriously injured and his passenger died after a crash Sunday on Interstate 275 at Gandy Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 12:21 p.m., a 44-year-old motorcyclist from Belle Fourche, South Carolina, was heading south on I-275 with a 49-year-old woman from Fort Myers as a passenger when he failed to see an SUV driven by a 60-year-old Auburndale man slowing ahead for traffic.

The motorcycle crashed into the back of the SUV, ejecting the motorcyclist and his passenger. They were both taken to the hospital where the Fort Myers woman died. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries.
