Update: Pedestrian Dies Following Ulmerton Road Crash

The accident happened Wednesday evening.

Update Jan. 22, 4:05 p.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that Virginia Stoner French died from injuries sustained in the crash.

A 62-year-old Pinellas Park woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Ulmerton Road Wednesday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman, who hasn’t been identified yet, was attempting to cross the road west of U.S. 19 when she entered into the path of an oncoming Ford driven by Roger Sigman, 62, of New Port Richey.

The woman was thrown by the collision and landed in the outside lane, troopers say.

She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she remained in critical condition Thursday.

Troopers say the woman failed to use a crosswalk.

No charges have been filed as of yet. The investigation is ongoing.

Sigman’s Ford is a vehicle for hire owned by Signature Car Service. Neither Sigman or his 68-year-old passenger from Largo were injured.
