Update: Pedestrian Killed at Ulmerton and Ridge Roads
A 54-year-old woman was struck by a van while crossing the road, which officials say was poorly lit.

Investigators have identified the pedestrian killed while crossing the intersection of Ulmerton and Ridge Roads as 54-year-old Kim Theresa Nichols of Largo.
Nichols was struck by a Ford Econoline van about 100 yards west of Ridge Road Southwest as she approached the median. The driver, who is not being charged, was identified as James Robert Reid.

Officials said that the intersection was poorly lit and it is not a designated pedestrian crossing.

A 54-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing Ulmerton Road at Ridge Road at 6:25 this morning.
According to authorities the pedestrian was about 100 yards west of Ridge Road Southwest and approaching the median when she was hit by a Ford Econoline van.
The driver is cooperating will police, Lt. Brad Seale said.
“There is no indication of drugs or alcohol. It doesn’t look like there will be any charges to the driver,” Seale said.
Seale said there are no streetlights at the location where the victim was crossing.
"It is poorly lit," he said. “We believe he didn’t see her."
Ulmerton Road and East Bay Drive are two of the most deadliest roads in Largo, according to a report by Transportation for America released earlier this year.

The victim was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Largo Police are withholding the victim’s name until her next of kin is notified.
