Police Say Driver Who Caused Fatal Crash May Have Been Drinking

Largo police are investigating a fatal accident on Saturday on East Bay Drive that could be alcohol-related.

LARGO, FL — Largo police are investigating a fatal accident on Saturday that could be alcohol-related.

At 1:55 a.m., police were called to an accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of East Bay Drive and 8th Street Northeast.

Police said a red Toyota was heading east on East Bay Drive and tried to pass a vehicle ahead. In the process, the Toyota collided with the other vehicle, veering right to the curb where the driver overcompensated and lost control, crossing into the westbound traffic on East Bay Drive and striking a Nissan head on.

The driver of the Nissan was killed and a passenger was injured.

Police said the Toyota's driver showed signs of impairment.
