PSTA Largo Transit Center Opens Sunday

LARGO, FL — Largo area residents who use PSTA buses to get around will soon have an easier time of it. PSTA has announced its new Largo Transit Center will open for business on Sunday.

Before the transit center starts serving passengers, however, a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Thursday. The 1 p.m. April 28 event is meant to celebrate the completion of the transit center, located at the Largo Commons Walmart Supercenter, 2677 Roosevelt Blvd.

Mayor Woody Brown and Brad Miller, PSTA’s chief executive officer, are expected to attend the ceremony, which is open to the public. Other dignitaries will also be on hand.

Once open this Sunday, the transit center will be served by PSTA routes 19, 52 and 79.

“These routes provide access to healthcare, schools, and residences cross the entire peninsula of Pinellas County,” PSTA explained in an email about the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new transit center will have 30-minute bus service. Route 19, however, will offer 20-minute service during peak hours.

“Before the opening of LTC, Walmart shoppers had to walk from Roosevelt Boulevard or U.S. 19, with no relief from the elements,” the email explained. “Now, with the new beautiful shelters, riders can stay out of the rain and sun, while the breeze still blows through the shelters providing new comforts for our riders.”

A number of reduced fare options and bus passes are available via the PSTA website. Riders may pay in cash or purchase a Go Card to cover costs. Some routes have higher regular rates.
