Update: Search Continues for Pinellas Park Shooting Suspect
A man in his 70s was hospitalized with a gunshot wound following the robbery attempt.

Update Aug. 28, 2:12 p.m.: The search for a man wanted in connection with a Thursday morning shooting in Pinellas Park continues as more details in the case emerge.
Police say the incident happened around 10 a.m. in the 7000 block of 52nd Street North. A man in his 70s was working on a home, preparing it for rental, when he was approached by a person on a cell phone. The victim was talked into showing the suspect the inside of the home. Once the two were inside, however, the suspect pulled a gun and demanded cash.
The victim turned to run, but the suspect opened fire.

The man suffered at least one gunshot wound to his left arm, police say. He was listed in stable condition at a local hospital this afternoon.
Pinellas Park police called off their active search just before noon and notified schools of the change in status. Pinellas Park Elementary had been placed on lockdown as a result of the earlier manhunt.

The investigation into the shooting remains active and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.

Pinellas Park Police officers have locked down one school as they search for a man wanted in connection with a Thursday morning robbery and shooting.
According to Sgt. Adam Geissenberger, the incident happened in the area of 70th Avenue and 52nd Street North. The case is being investigated as a robbery and attempted homicide. The victim has been taken to Bayfront Medical Center as a trauma alert.
The suspect is described as a black male with short hair who stands about 5 feet, 8 inches high. He weighs roughly 160 pounds and is estimated to be in his 20s. Geissenberger said he is considered armed and dangerous.
An active hunt for the shooting suspect is ongoing. Motorists may want to avoid the area.
